The Zen expression “hogejaku” means “let go of everything.”

We are too busy in our daily lives. If you want to discover what is truly important, you must first stop and let go of everything.

We begin our Hogejaku Day with questions, so put your smartphone away. Your daily life is already flooded with information. Step away from it and let this question guide you as you take the time to reflect thoughtfully on yourself.

Saihoji in the early afternoon— as you spend a quiet moment in the garden, what will you let go of, and what will you discover?

After entering, you may do as you wish. Have a seat in the Kannon-do Hall, which is usually closed to the public, and take in the view of the garden.
Please refrain from taking photos, as this is a digital detox program meant for spending time reflecting on yourself. We look forward to welcoming you in an environment that is slightly different from the usual temple visits.

Hogejaku Day will be held on a seasonal basis going forward. We would be delighted if you could come and visit from time to time to center yourself. With each visit, you will come to appreciate the value of what you have and feel your mind come into balance.

-Participation in this program is limited to members only.
-Creation of your account is required for making a reservation.
-Personal data, such as names of each visitor, are required for making a reservation.
-The garden paths are not wheelchair accessible, as the temple grounds include steps and areas covered in gravel.
-Please refrain from taking pictures during this program.

[Change/Cancellation]
The date and time of the visit cannot be changed. If you wish to change the date and time of your visit, please cancel your reservation and make a new one. Cancellations (including reduction in the number of participants) will be subject to the following cancellation fees.
