Many people who visit Saihoji temple fall in love with the garden and ask us how they can maintain an ongoing relationship with the Saihoji.
Since its founding in 731, Saihoji Temple has served as a spiritual home for the people. And this has continued throughout the ages. Around 100 years ago the garden was opened to the public, and more than 50 years have gone by since the main hall was rebuilt.
Saihoji faces perennial challenges in maintaining the garden in its optimal state. And in addition, one of new challenges that Saihoji faces is climate change, which is affecting the flora and fauna of the garden, requiring more effort than ever to maintain the environment of Saihoji.
Saihoji Temple welcomes donations from both individuals and organizations who support our activities. Donations will be used prudently for the preservation and maintenance of the temple grounds.
The monks, temple staff, and gardeners will work together to ensure that Saihoji Temple continues to be a temple that brings inner peace to all people. Saihoji respectfully asks for your warm support.
